The Newport Dinner
Train announces the purchase of two light rail diesel cars from the Wilton
Scenic Railroad in Wilton, NH. The two rail cars, will be used in
the near future for the implementation of a shuttle train service to coincide with the development of Weaver Cove Marina Village in
Portsmouth.
In 2007, the Newport Dinner Train
will open up a new subsidiary operation with the new rail cars. The
Islander Touring Train, a division of the Newport Dinner Train, will
utilize the new rail cars for scenic tours and box lunches. The
Newport Dinner Train also announced a new partnering program with the
Newport Cruise Company, owners of the “Majestic”, a 93-foot touring boat.
The Islander Touring Company will offer a combination train-boat trip for
under $20.00 per person and kids will ride free.
Kids ten and under will ride free
on the Touring Train when accompanied by an adult. The Touring Train
will also feature a snack bar area, including lunches and beverages
and a rolling gift shop. The two rail cars will have a total seating
capacity of 120 persons and are special self-propelled rail cars, which do
not require a locomotive for power. These cars were purchased to create an
affordable touring package and to begin the implementation of an
economical shuttle service.
The Touring Train will also be
available for private charters, business meetings, birthdays and special
occasions. |
