| In 2007, The Newport Dinner Train announced the
purchase of two light rail cards from the Wilton Scenic Railroad in
Wilton, NH. Each car is self-propelled and does not require a
locomotive for power. The two rail cars, currently operating
as the Islander Touring Train on Aquidneck Island, will also be used
for the implementation of a shuttle train service to coincide with
the developments of Weaver Cove Marina Village in Portsmouth, RI.
As a subsidiary of The Newport Dinner Train, the
Islander Touring Train offers 90 minute scenic train excursions and
a combination train and boat cruise in a new partnering program with
The Newport Cruise Company, owner of the Majestic, a 93' touring
boat. Kids 10 and under ride free on the Touring Train when
accompanied by an adult. Snacks and beverages are available.
Seating capacity is 105 persons. The Touring Train is also
available for private charters, business meetings and special
occasions. |
